Cumberland Menopause Network
How to get involved in the menopause network which promotes the development of a supportive, inclusive menopause-friendly workplace.
Our Menopause network supports women though the complex and often challenging experience of menopause in the workplace. (Women – term is used in this written material for flow of language and reading only. We acknowledge non-binary, those with variations on sex and trans people also experience peri/menopause)
Who can join and the benefits of joining
The network is open to all employees – anyone navigating per-menopause or menopause, anyone who supports women at work or at home and wants to understand more. We have a monthly Menopause Network Café on Teams and a Menopause Network Teams Channel, with access to resources, support and advice.
The Menopause network provides:
- a safe place to talk openly - no agenda, objectives, or themes
- to share your experiences and insights
- an opportunity for discussion
- a forum to learn from and support each other and ask questions about the peri menopause, menopause and hormones
We have a monthly Menopause Network Café on Teams and a Menopause Network Teams Channel
How to join
Please just drop an email to: employeenetworkgroups@cumberland.gov.uk
We will then ensure you are invited to the monthly network meetings and added to the Teams channel.
When and where the group meets
Held the first Wednesday of the month at 10am on MS Teams.
Purpose of the group
The purpose of the group is:
- employees feel supported, heard and seen
- colleagues are encouraged to talk openly about menopause in the workplace without fear of embarrassment, discrimination or isolation
- employees are supported to thrive in work and reach their personal and professional potential
- leaders and managers are provided with information, guidance and support to enable them to help their team members to thrive
- sharing of information and experience to support colleagues
- the council’s internal employee networks are a visible and influential part of the organisation
- employees have a mechanism and feel supported to report any issues relating to peri-menopause and menopause
- provide a forum for discussion and support which draws on knowledge and experience
- act as a driving force to promote continuous improvement in workforce policy development
- provide a place for staff to share experiences and receive peer support and to raise concerns and ideas in a safe and confidential environment
